Motivational Monday to get your week started. “Hurt occurs only if there is intent; otherwise it is a misperception.”
The spoken word is a powerful tool. A word could put one into a rage, a word could make you laugh, cry, or even have you fall in love.
Theoretically, all words have dictionary meanings, but the meanings themselves are sometimes ambiguous. When we put a sentence together with all the many words and all of the individual meanings now we are interpreting a total sentence not a word. One sentence can now be interpreted using a second method other than the “meaning,” tone of voice, facial expressions, physical actions etc.
How you interpret what you hear and do what you see will determine your response.
Countless amounts of harm can come from misinterpretation. Families split, best friends fight, and people even kill according to how they interpret the spoken word.
It’s factual that a good percentage of these misfortunes were born from misinterpretation of what was said and, more importantly, what one really meant by the giver as misconception by the receiver.
